About

Jo Case grew up in the Sunshine Coast hinterland before studying architecture at the University of Queensland, graduating in 1989. She is a registered Queensland architect and member of the Royal Australian Institute of Architects.

After working and living throughout Australia and overseas, the practicality and unpretentious simplicity of her early rural life continues to inform Jo’s work. An intimate understanding of local climate, aesthetics and environment informs the design process and the primary design goals.

Over the past twenty years, Jo has worked on a variety of projects from large-scale commercial projects, including her work as project architect for the award winning Sunshine Coast University Library, restaurants and bars, houses, residential renovations and custom designed furniture and fittings.

+ The Work

Current work is focussed on residential design; new houses and adaptations of existing houses to match the owners current and future needs and to achieve the best, sustainable outcomes for the owner. Houses and new work are crafted for liveability and comfort, sustainability, budget and the delight in material and detail.

  • Optimise future energy usage

+ Primary design goals

  • Crafting of space responding to owners needs, brief and site character

  • Engagement of natural light and shadow to create dynamic spaces, warmth and comfort

  • Maximisation of the site and its attributes

  • Innovative solutions which may not be immediately apparent to the owner

  • Cost effective and practical

“Jo originally designed a BBQ Area for our Caravan Park. We were so impressed, we asked her to design a 90sqm Granny Flat which needed to incorporate a large Jacaranda, an existing studio and be split level. Jo has created a delightful 2 bedroom, seamless, airy flat which is very sympathetic to its rural setting.

We have had so many comments on what a beautiful, spacious feel it has. We could not be happier with the outcome and can very confidently recommend Jo for commercial or residential designs.”
