The client required additional living space both inside and out. The simple solution of enclosing the original deck and adding a new deck to the north freed up additional family space inside.

A key strategy was to retain as much of the existing house to achieve a cost effective and functional outcome and to improve the original spatial relationships. The family house now has clear zones- quiet and active spaces to accommodate the varying needs of the family.
